Frequently Asked Questions

how did you get into weather?
At the age of three, I fell in love with meteorology when I was making weather maps and coloring them in on pieces of printer paper. I would always watch The Weather Channel, and sometimes I would pretend that I was the meteorologist on the TV!
when did you create denton county weather?
My media began in February of 2015 as Atkinson NH Weather. After moving to Texas, it then became Argyle TX Weather (Late 2017/Early 2018). After thought and consideration in April of 2020, it changed to Denton County Weather, after hitting new heights with page support.
What social media pages do you have for weather alerts and more?
We have multiple Social Media Pages.
Facebook - Denton County Weather (@DentonCountyWeather)
Instagram - @DentonCountyWeather
Twitter - We no longer operate on the Twitter platform.
Phone Texts - Text 81010, Message @AHSWEA - NOTE: We are very inactive on Phone Texts unless Severe Weather is imminent.

Our website will display any watches or warnings at the top, however, this is not the most reliable way to get alerts.
does this website offer severe weather alerts?
We do, however, this is not the best area to get Severe Weather Alerts for your location. I highly recommend downloading an app on your mobile device, or using a weather radio. Mobile apps recommended for Weather Alerts would be The Weather Channel or MyRadar.
where do you get your weather information from?
I use various sources and a lot of my own knowledge. I've started to use Pivotal Weather a lot more for my forecasting, as it gives me plenty of tools like CAPE, CIN, 15+ Computer Models, Tornado Parameter, Quality Soundings, and a lot more. I occasionally use Windy TV (Used in our Live Radars section). I use WSV3 Software in my livestreams that I have on Facebook when Severe Weather is on its way.
are the graphics on this website, facebook, instagram, etc, made and owned by you?
All graphics are owned by Denton County Weather, unless otherwise credited. We occasionally use the National Weather Service or a local news station for situations where we are unable to provide updates.
can i use your graphics, photos, videos, etc, on broadcasts or a website of my own?
You can NEVER use my photos, videos, or graphics on any site, video, or broadcast, and claim it as your own. You must provide credit to this website. You are free to share my posts on Social Media Websites, as long as I am credited. This rule is very strict, as it is plagiarism if you do not provide credit.
is this your actual job?
This is currently not a job of mine, however, we are currently a non-profit weather information page that makes revenue off of page ads on our website and our Patreon. This helps us pay off website/software expenses and some of it goes towards college expenses.
who is your inspiration?
When I lived in New Hampshire, my favorite meteorologist was Harvey Leonard from WCVB Channel 5. Nowadays, he is still my favorite. I visited WCVB 5 twice. The most recent time was in the Summer of 2019. He is the most accurate and reliable meteorologists I know.
(Question submitted by Amanda C.)
what field of weather are you the best at?
One of the strongest areas of weather I have is Severe Weather. I have self-taught myself a lot about Severe Storms and a lot of the different types of radars that are used to figure out what is going on in that storm without being in the storm. Winter Weather is my second strongest, due to the fact that I lived in a snowy, Winter climate in New Hampshire for a long time, and I am very good with Hurricanes. I was able to predict that Hurricane Dorian in 2019 would become a Category 5 Hurricane around 36 hours before any other meteorologist thought that.
